John’s Experience
John is a qualified Mindfulness Teacher and holds a master’s degree in Mindfulness Studies from Aberdeen University, where he led Mindfulness courses for psychology and counsellor students and staff.
Over the past 10 years he has led mindfulness training for Primary Care staff in the NHS, taught Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction courses to the public and led Mindfulness and Meditation retreats in the Italian Alps.
He is a qualified and experienced Life Coach and has spent numerous years providing life coaching to individuals and small business owners. His approach benefited his clients to gain clarity around Purpose and Meaning in life and in business.
John established and was a co-founder of a life coaches training business, The Acorn Principle, where he was instrumental in creating learning resources, growing the customer base and training his co-tutors.
For five years he was recruited by Shell to create and launch a social enterprise initiative in Uganda. The Learning Paper was established providing learning resources for school children in two regions of the country.
For his professional development he attends Retreats at Samey Ling Centre for Buddhist studies and its partner Retreat Centre on the Holy Island in northwest Scotland. He practices Yoga and Qi Gong and is a professional skier, keen swimmer, cyclist and hiker.
